Martine Ouellet is a Canadian politician and engineer. She was born on April 8, 1969, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She holds a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a Master's degree in project management.
Ouellet began her political career as a member of the Parti Québécois and was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2010 general election. She served as Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife and Minister responsible for the Plan Nord under Premier Pauline Marois.
In 2015, Ouellet was elected to the House of Commons of Canada as a member of the Bloc Québécois. She served as the party's interim leader in 2017 before being elected as permanent leader in April 2017. However, she resigned from the party in 2018 amid internal conflicts.
In addition to her political career, Ouellet has worked as an engineer and project manager in the aerospace, transportation, and energy industries. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Concordia University and École de technologie supérieure in Montreal.
